How about Funerals - how can we have one without a church? The friendly minister we talked about in the last page or the funeral director are both your friends for this. You may have a lot of things you want to say in the funeral. That is good. But it’s best to have someone run the funeral that has done it before. They will give you time to speak if you ask them. How about baptisms or christenings? Both of those are religious ceremonies and are not useful if you are a humanist. A lot of humanists like to have “naming ceremonies” instead. It is a ceremony where you give the baby its name with your friends there. This can be very pretty. Have someone that’s done it before run it for you. In case you were wondering, you can use the baby’s name before the ceremony.
