LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) issues sometimes LGBTQS for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Straight allies. There are actually a number of abbreviations all beginning with LGBT or GLBT to include other people generally seen as having a gender identity issue or people that are uncertain about their sexuality or straight allies. This section is in development but for now, if you could be described with one of those adjectives: You are not alone. You are not bad or evil or abnormal. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, not yours, not your parents, not the weird guy down the street. Don’t consider it a “fault” Things should get better as you age and society advances however you will wish that it was happening faster. Don’t give up No matter what other people say, you did not chose to be the way you are. Humanists are your friends. There are lots of support groups including ones for people with intellectual disabilities. These can be found on search engines. Search for “LGBT groups” or “LGBT intellectual disabilities groups” and your state. The picture to the left is from the Boston Pride parade. Many cities have these parades in the Spring. They are a lot of fun and are places to make connections and get information about what is available around where you live. I think they are great parades for anyone to see. Certain areas of cities or even cities themselves are associated with gay people. Often they were art centers at one time but not always. To the left is a picture of Provincetown Massachusetts which is one of those towns. As many people are walking around holding the hand of a person of the same sex as them than people holding a person of the other sex. No one cares. It is nice to be in a place where no one cares who you love.
